The project
The municipalities of Pradamano, Udine, and Treffen are historically connected through the figure of Patriarch Ulrich II of Treffen. The central importance of water for landscape, history, and identity represents another unifying element among the project areas.
The aim of the project ULRICH is to enhance these shared historical, cultural, and landscape values while strengthening soft, sustainable tourism. Its core component is the development of a cross-border thematic cycling route with three variants of the Alpe-Adria cycle path, linking history, culture, and water landscapes.
The initiative can contribute to the recovery of high-quality and sustainable tourism in Friuli Venezia Giulia and Carinthia, with positive effects on competitiveness and employment, while also reducing the risk of overtourism by promoting alternative forms of use.
