Activities and purpose

The project

We thought that the “eternal snow” was… well, eternal. But it isn’t! Climate change is making it more brittle and melting one glacier after another. Hintertux, Stubai, and Ortler are three of the many Alpine peaks that will see their perennial snow disappear by the end of the century. The GLISTT project conducted state-of-the-art monitoring to obtain a comprehensive picture of the decline of Alpine peaks in the regions of Tyrol and South Tyrol. The cross-border cooperation of partners makes it possible to bring together the results obtained. The GLISTT thus has the opportunity to record individual data on current glacier changes in a clear, unambiguous and accurate manner. As part of the project, a traveling exhibition was set up as well.
