Activities and purpose

The project

In order to successfully overcome the challenges of climate change and international crises, food systems, which are strategically important for the program area, need to be rendered more resilient and sustainable. FOODIS aims to develop the capacity to absorb innovations and introduce circular processes in the value chains of the food sector. The project will create a common cross-border ecosystem between Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Carinthia (with strategic know-how also being acquired from other regions), taking into account the proximity of the territories and the unique complementarity of existing competences and infrastructures, providing companies with knowledge, services, and opportunities at cross-border level. This includes the mapping of needs and opportunities, the definition of a cross-border network in the field of food and sustainable logistics, two pilot actions with the development of durable solutions, a sustainability model for the ecosystem and guidelines for policy makers for actions, and investments to support the circular economy.
