Activities and purpose

The project

Nassfeld connects the Austrian Gailtal Valley (Hermagor district, Austria) with the Italian Valcanale (Friuli Venezia Giulia region, Italy), linking the municipalities of Hermagor (AT) and Pontebba (IT). At the top of the pass (around 1,500 m), on the Austrian side, there is the Nassfeld ski area with a complex of tourist facilities, while on the Italian side lies Lake Pramollo.
In this border region, there are currently no safe and attractive connection options for pedestrians and hikers. It is therefore necessary to create offers for ecological, high-quality tourism within the region.
The objective is to create cross-border pedestrian routes in two specific sectors and to implement a pilot measure that includes a year-round accessible path, partially barrier-free, equipped with energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable lighting, featuring a sustainable design and supported by a joint promotional campaign for the newly created offering.
