The project

The small Interreg Terra Raetica project “The path of interests between Monte Maria and Galtür” focuses on the production of a film that tells the story of the path connecting the Marienberg Abbey (Monte Maria – project beneficiary) and Galtür (project partner Alpinarium Galtür), which passes through the Lower Engadine and was important in the past for pilgrimages and fiscal obligations, such as the annual delivery of cheese from Galtür to Marienberg. The goal is to strengthen awareness of historical ties, the development of the valleys, and regional belonging. The heart of the project is a documentary, integrated by short films shot during a hike along the historical path. The group of hikers is composed of, among others, monks and scientists. Thematic films combine history, religion, and landscape impressions, showing current research and lived traditions while reflecting on survival challenges, crisis management, faith, and hope. The films will be integrated into the Euregio Museum Year 2025 in exhibitions at Monte Maria and Galtür and broadcast on television.
