Activities and purpose

The project

Carinthia has been closely linked to the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region for centuries. As Nova Gorica-Gorizia will be the European Capital of Culture in 2025, these connections are to be intensified again in the field of cultural tourism. The border location and the ethnic and cultural diversity characterise both regions and the cultural tourism measures of the project build on this diversity!
The individual measures of the project essentially cover three areas. In the first area, a cross-border summer school is to be established, which will continue after the end of the project and is primarily aimed at young people who want to work in tourism. The second area focusses on Nova Gorica-Gorizia as European Capital of Culture. The aim is to prepare a possible future candidature of a Carinthian city/region as European Capital of Culture through co-operation and exchange of experience. Finally, in a third area, small projects with a cultural tourism focus will be supported and should provide the impetus for further future co-operation.
Building on the ethnic and cultural diversity of both regions, the project aims to increase the cultural tourism relevance of both regions!
