Activities and purpose

The project

AppleCare is a research project that primarily targets people suffering from pollen allergy. One-fifth of the population in Central Europe suffers from this allergy, and the number of people affected is increasing every year. To combat these allergies, there already exists a treatment option through long-term hyposensitization, where the desired effects, however, do not manifest immediately. Remember the saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”? With Applecare, this saying becomes a reality. The birch pollen allergen is similar to the apple allergen, and the controlled consumption of the right number of apples can lead to a cure for the allergy. The ingestion of external allergens is therefore no longer necessary. Our partners are working to develop a sustainable therapy with the right dosage for everyone.
