Activities and purpose

The project

The Albina project makes it possible to be informed on a daily basis about what is happening in the mountain regions of the area covered by the project. Thanks to collaboration with partners, the population can consult a fact sheet that informs them about avalanche dangers, but also about temperature, wind and snow depth. Forecasters use software that illustrates weather data, snow quality and quantity, and avalanche occurrences for the entire Alpine region. Sharing information among staff allows them to be quickly informed of possible changes in the mountains. This is also why content sharing through media and social networks is encouraged – more people are likely to be informed about avalanche reports. The easy-to-understand design is available in seven languages. This makes Albina the only cross-border, multilingual avalanche bulletin in the world.
