Second call: cooperation projects selected

1 min

Under the 2nd call for projects, which was open from February to May 2024, 29 projects were submitted. The steering committee expressed its approval for the financing of 25 cross-border cooperation projects.

In the second call, it was possible to submit projects under priorities 2 “Climate Change and Biodiversity,” 3 “Sustainable and Cultural Tourism,” and 5 “Reduction of Cross-Border Barriers” with an overall budget of 18 million euros (ERDF). A total funding volume of about 17 million euros was requested. Most of the funding requests were submitted under priority 2, totaling about 8.7 million euros.

The cross-border steering committee has approved the ranking of the projects after a thorough review and has decided to fund 25 cooperation projects, of which 13 are in Priority 2, 8 in Priority 3, and 4 in Priority 5. Due to the number and quality of projects in Priority 3, a portion of the available funds has been reallocated to this priority in order to fund all approved projects. For the third call, only 4% of the ERDF funds remain in this priority, and it is likely that only one strategic project can be approved. In total, €13.8 million of ERDF funds have been committed.

The ranking can be consulted on the program’s website. The Lead Partners of the submitted projects will be officially informed of the decision in the coming weeks. On January 16, 2025, the Joint Secretariat will organize an online seminar for the Lead Partners of all approved projects, during which important information on project implementation will be provided.

The third call for project submissions will be open from March 25 to July 1, 2025, for all priorities (1, 2, 3, and 5) with approximately €16.5 million of ERDF funds. This represents a total of 31% of the remaining ERDF funds, of which 27% will be available in Priority 1, 46% in Priority 2, 4% in Priority 3, and 35% in Priority 5. More details can be found in the charts.
