REGIOSTARS 2025
The 2025 REGIOSTARS competition is open for applications!
We are looking for the most inspiring and innovative regional projects in the EU. Since 2008, the REGIOSTARS Awards have been recognizing projects funded by cohesion policy across Europe that demonstrate excellence, inclusivity, and new approaches in regional development.
The awards are given in five thematic categories:
- A competitive and smart Europe – Promoting competitiveness, innovation, and economic resilience
- A green Europe – The green transition as the enabler of regional development
- A connected Europe – Enhancing mobility and connectivity between regions
- A social and inclusive Europe – Achieving a more inclusive Europe by harnessing regional talents
- A Europe closer to citizens – Fostering the sustainable development of all types of territories
To be eligible, the project must be completed and fully implemented, demonstrating results or impacts at the regional level. Key questions: Has your project created a positive impact locally? Was something new developed as part of it? Did it bring your region further economically, socially or environmentally? Do the results continue to deliver even after the project ended? Could it be rolled-out across Europe?
If you are interested in participating with your project, contact the Joint Secretariat at gs-sc@provincia.bz.it by April 18, 2025. The Joint Secretariat and the Managing Authority will review the applications and select up to five projects to participate in the competition. Once you receive confirmation and the Endorsement Letter from the Joint Secretariat, you can submit your application independently via the REGIOSTARS platform by May 20, 2025.
Preselected projects will have the opportunity to present their application to an independent jury during the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels on October 14. In addition to the jury-selected winners, an Audience Award will also be granted through an online vote open from September 2 to October 15. The official REGIOSTARS 2025 Awards ceremony will take place on October 15, 2025, in Brussels. Besides the official recognition, the winners of each category will receive a local communication campaign carried out in collaboration with DG REGIO, which can be launched from December 1, 2025.
