New European Bauhaus Prizes & Boost
The European Commission is once again looking for innovative, sustainable, and inclusive projects. Starting now, initiatives from across Europe can apply for the sixth edition of the “New European Bauhaus (NEB) Prizes” as well as the “NEB Boost for Small Municipalities”.
The New European Bauhaus (NEB) connects the European Green Deal to our daily lives and living spaces. It supports projects that combine sustainability, aesthetics, and social inclusion. Following the great success of previous years, the initiative is now entering its next round, offering two exciting funding opportunities:
NEB Prizes 2026: Pioneering the future
This year, a total of 13 winning projects will be awarded up to €20,000 each (an additional 14 runners-up will receive €5,000 each). This year’s edition introduces several new features:
- There is a stronger focus on the circular economy, local democracy, and arts and culture as driving forces for change.
- The new special prize for “Water Resilience” specifically rewards solutions to water-related challenges.
- In addition to EU Member States, the Western Balkans, Ukraine, and (newly) Moldova, this year also features special international prizes for projects from Brazil and Japan.
- In addition to the prize money, finalists will receive strategic coaching and communication support.
NEB Boost for Small Municipalities: Empowering rural areas
Following its successful premiere last year, the “NEB Boost” returns. It is specifically aimed at projects in rural areas or municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants. The initiative seeks projects related to the built environment – from building renovations and affordable housing solutions to the regeneration of town centres.
The 20 winning projects of the NEB Boost will each receive €30,000 and a tailored communication package.
How to apply:
Applications for both formats can be submitted until 17 March 2026 (19:00 CET) via the official New European Bauhaus Prizes platform.
The finalists will be presented at the NEB Festival in June, and the award ceremony will take place in the autumn of 2026.
