New European Bauhaus Awards
The New European Bauhaus (NEB) recognizes sustainable and inclusive projects in two main categories:
- NEB Awards: These honor projects and ideas from individuals, teams, and organizations.
- NEB Boost for Small Communities: These support smaller local governments in implementing transformative projects with strong community involvement.
The New European Bauhaus (NEB) is an EU policy and funding initiative aimed at making the green transition in our built environments more enjoyable, attractive, and comfortable. The goal is to promote positive and inclusive experiences for everyone and to create a more livable environment.
The NEB Awards 2025 specifically focus on affordable housing and recognize projects that contribute to improving accessibility or availability of housing. There are four main categories for project and concept submissions:
- Reconnecting with nature
- Restoring a sense of belonging
- Prioritizing the places and people who need it the most
- Designing a circular industrial ecosystem and supporting life cycle thinking
Additionally, there are two competition strands:
- New European Bauhaus Champions: for existing and completed projects
- New European Bauhaus Rising Stars: for concepts by young talents
The NEB Boost for Small Communities aims to support smaller communities in rural areas or with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants. Projects must focus on the built environment and prioritize aspects such as the circular economy, carbon neutrality, and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Applications for the awards and the NEB Boost for Small Communities are possible until February 14, 2025, at 19:00 via the official platform. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the European Parliament in the fall. The winners will receive cash prizes of up to €30,000 and communication packages for the development and promotion of their projects.
