RegioStars Awards 2024

The call for applications for RegioStars 2024 is now open!

Since 2008, the REGIOSTARS competition has been the European award for cohesion policy-funded projects that demonstrate excellence and new approaches to regional development. It seeks out the most outstanding and innovative regional projects.

Prizes are awarded to projects in five thematic categories. In 2024, the following are planned:

1. A competitive and smart Europe: promoting competitiveness, innovation and economic resilience.
2. A green Europe: transition to a green economy as a factor for regional development.
3. A connected Europe: promoting mobility and connections between regions.
4. A social and inclusive Europe: realising a more inclusive Europe by mobilising regional talents.
5. A citizen-friendly Europe: promoting the sustainable development of territories of all kinds.

To be eligible, the project must be completed and fully implemented. It must also demonstrate regional results or impact. More details are available in the application guide and on the online application platform.

If you are interested in participating in the competition with your project, please contact the Joint Secretariat at gs-sc@provincia.bz.it by April 30, 2024. The Joint Secretariat and the Management Authority will examine the applications and select a maximum of 5 projects to participate in the competition. Once you have received the letter of acceptance and endorsement from the Joint Secretariat, you can submit your application yourself via the RegioStars platform by May 31.

After the eligibility check and the first evaluation, the finalists will be announced in mid-July. The finalists will then present their project to an independent jury during the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels on October 8, which will select the winning projects. A public prize will also be awarded, for which one project will be selected from the finalists through a public online vote (from September 2 to October 8). The official RegioStars award ceremony will be held on October 9, 2024 in Brussels.

In addition to the prize, the winners in each category will benefit from a local communication campaign, which will be realised in cooperation with DG Regio beginning on the 1st of December 2024.
