Fit4Co CBO Mitterm Meeting
Euregio Meeting in Alpbach: Progress for 18 Fit4Co CBO Projects
On January 8 and 9, the midterm meeting of the Interreg project “Fit for Cooperation” (Fit4Co CBO) took place in Alpbach (Tyrol), with around 100 participants. The project aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation between administrations in Tyrol, South Tyrol, and Trentino, while overcoming existing obstacles within the cooperation area of the EU Interreg Italy-Austria program.
A total of 18 project tandems are working on diverse initiatives, such as the redesign of the border area between Sillian and Innichen, an infrastructure project at the Staller Saddle, and joint cross-border air rescue exercises. These projects provide tangible added value for administrations and the public.
As Euregio Secretary General Christoph von Ach emphasized, “funding opportunities are crucial for the success of the projects. The Interreg Coordination Office Tyrol and funding experts from Brussels and Lienz provided targeted advice to participants at the Alpbach meeting.” Barbara Lerch, representative of the Interreg Coordination Office Tyrol, highlighted that Euregio is a reliable partner that brings Europe closer to people through well-structured projects.
Euregio project manager Matthias Fink and Gina Streit from the Regional Management Osttirol presented funding opportunities, while Giulia Chiarel from the Joint Euregio Representation in Brussels and Cinzia Dellagiacoma from the Association of European Border Regions provided valuable insights into EU programs aimed at overcoming border obstacles.
The project tandems will continue working on their concepts until May 2025. Subsequently, the first measures will either be implemented directly through Fit4Co or project applications will be submitted to EU funding bodies.
