Collaboration of administrations across borders

Whether suggestions in the fields of culture or education, border management, economics, or artificial intelligence: For two days, on October 2nd and 3rd, 19 cooperation tandems with around 100 participants gathered at the Euregio Cultural Center Gustav Mahler in Toblach to think about how to support public administrations, social partners, and regional managements in developing cross-border projects. South Tyrol’s Regional Councillor for Europe, Magdalena Amhof, said: “The second edition of Fit4Co aims to build on the success of the first. It is a concrete program to strengthen the collaboration of administrations in our Euregio, overcoming borders – exactly the motto of the South Tyrolean Euregio Presidency. We look forward to many exciting project ideas.”

Following the opening with Martha Gärber, Director of the Europe Department and representative of the Interreg Italy-Austria Managing Authority, the cooperation tandems, along with their coaches, began their first workshops. Four more are planned to develop the initial project ideas into detailed proposals.

Project coordinator Matthias Fink said at the presentation: “The project tandems are working groups with representatives from various public administrations in all Euregio countries – from municipal to state administration. Thanks to Fit4Co, they can develop many well-prepared cross-border projects for direct implementation by the project partners or for submission to funding agencies.”

Interest was also shown in a round table at the end of the first working day: The focus was on the cross-border “Open Helmhaus Culture Project”, which was implemented in the CLLD region of Dolomiti Live. Among others, the mayors of Sexten and Sillian, Thomas Simmerer and Franz Schneider, as well as representatives of the Alpine clubs from the South Tyrolean and East Tyrolean Puster valleys participated. The event was organized in cooperation with Interreg CLLD Dolomiti Live.
